As the reliance on technology continues to expand in offices, the role of the office professional has greatly evolved. Office automation and organizational restructuring have led secretaries and Medical administrative assistants to assume responsibilities once reserved for managerial and professional staff. In spite of these changes, however, the core responsibilities for Medical Office Administrators have remained much the same: Performing and coordinating an office’s administrative activities and storing, retrieving, and integrating information for dissemination to staff and clients.

The medical office clerk career has a positive job outlook.The need for medical office clerks is expected to increase. Office clerks who are dependable and show initiative may advance to an office manager position, or into a teaching position.

Students learn to identify essential elements of medical office environments. Students learn to apply rules of medical record coding systems, creating and using a word processing document, type data into a computer, identify various methods for determining patient fees, complete a written itemized billing statement. Student learns to use different Office Equipment like Computers, Fax Machine, and Adding Machines etc. Students learn to use computer programs like Microsoft Word and Excel. Students will learn to make appointments and reminders, entering and storing diagnosis codes and filing information.
